Canonsburg's Covered Bridge

Central Avenue Covered Bridge over Chartiers Creek - Circa 1900.

This early Canonsburg 1900's picture is a winter view looking west along the railroad tracks toward a covered bridge seen in the distance on the left that once stood over South Central and Chartiers Creek.
This picture taken from that same bridge location after the covered bridge was torn down and replaced with a steel trestle bridge. The elevated view looking north up Central Avenue from Chartiers Creek shows pedestrian and horse drawn wagon traffic crossing the bridge in the foreground with the old mill seen behind the railroad car.   The skyline shows the buildings along West Pike Street.

Pictures from the Jim Herron collection.
